NY-Free Z06 & H2 Test Drives
RIGHT NOW AT THE NASSAU COLISEUM!!! Gotta hurry. I just got back. It's free admission and they have like 6 tents with different categories. Last day today June 1, open untill 7pm.
You have to test drive one car (passenger or luxury) before they let you drive a Corvette. If you can drive a stick, you get to drive the Z06 (and its a shorter line
). You drive with an instructor, just to help you around the course. Can't really open it up, but there's this on 100yard stretch where you can get it going.
You also have to test drive a pickup or SUV before you can get in a Hummer. They have you go up a 15ft dirt hill, and then get 2 wheels on a sideways hill. Tell ya what...the side hill was more than any other truck could do.
I drove a Vibe, Altima, Avalanche, H2 and Zo6. And I was a passenger while my bro drove the Saab 9-5, Focus zx3 and Trailblazer. The Altima was even better than I imagined. Sweet ride. Avalanche sucked, and the Vibe pleasantly surprised me...needed getting use to, though.
Plus you can check out Kevin Harvick's and Tony Stewart's race cars, and there's free food, drinks and t-shirts.

I wouldn't have known if I didn't live so close to the coliseum. Drove by it on Hempstead Turnpike, and my bro and I just decided to stop in to see what it was. Ended up staying for a while.
It was called AutoShow in Motion 2003. It was a GM event, but a lot of other makes not associated with GM were there, like Nissan, Honda, Ford, Dodge, Toyota, etc. No Mazdas, though.
I'm looking all over the web for AutoShow in Motion, but no luck. I guess it's sort of an invitational thing, where you're at a dealership and they say, "Hey, come check this out." Except they also let you in if you're just wandering by. Like me.

hey no prob. I'm sure it was fun. if you do hear of any thing out on the island, like auto x or other events, let me know cuz i live close anyway. i already know about the rev it up joint in august at belmont. i'm going to go both days just to get double the time to drive all the Mazdas hehe.
