Should I make this Protege trade????

Guys, need some advice. Just bought a '95 DX auto with 55K mi for only $3200 from a wholesaler. Car runs well but body has a decent amount of little dings and interior has a few blemishes/tears here and there but got it for the price and low mileage.

Went to a local dealer who had a '93 5spd DX with only 49k mi on it. I drove it and it was fine. They said they'd give me it for my trade plus $700 total including processing fees plus a 2 month 2k mi warranty. I walked b/c wanted to think about it. '93 was black which I'm hesitant to buy b/c I think black will be too hot in the summer. But '93 does look much better......interior is perfect, exterior practically perfect too and has new tires......my '95 needs tires.

What would you do? Keep in mind I do commute time to time.
Should I just keep the auto '95 or would you all pay the extra $700 and trade for the '93?

Thanks!

dood, go with the 93!
the 1st gen i think look better, run better! and sweeter.
Nothin that i know of has been recalled or wrong with a 1st gen prote.
and u paid too much for the 95. the car would have to have NOTHING wrong with it to pay $3200 for it.
I bought my 94 Prote DX with 96k on it for $4800 after tax, tags and title. and i have no tears or blemishes on the interior. no scratches , but jus a few dings outside, CLEAN AS GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT!! and runs perfect!

so get the 93

How do you figure when you paid $1500 more than me for a car that is a year older and even if you do like the 1st Gen's better, your car has 40k more miles!!! The '93 the dealer wants to sell me is another $700 plus my trade which would make it around $4000 for a '93 DX with 49k......that's basically HALF the miles of yours and it's cosmetically and internally perfect. I think YOU overpaid. I see '94's in the paper here all day long with that kind of mileage for under $4k. My '95 also runs perfect...it just has a few interior and exterior blemishes. I've had it checked out already by my mechanic who gave it a clean bill of health.

Here's why I'm leaning toward keeping the '95 auto against the general consensus that I shouldn't:

1-It's my "get around car." Not modifying it at all. I already have a modded out '00 6spd Z28 that I drive in the fun sunny weather. So I don't really care that much if the Proter is not pristine looking.....it drives well.
2-Already having a manual car, it's kinda nice to run errands and drive around in an auto especially in traffic around where I am. And the 1.5L isn't that slow to me.....car is very light.
3-The car is black and with the hot humid summers here....it would probably be hot as hell! Not to mention a bitch to keep clean.
4-The black '93 is already starting to make the 'ol seatbelt beeps like my previous '93 did even though the seatbelts are latched in. Of course, I could tell them to fix that.
And finally....
5-I'd have to shell out another $700

Still thinking about it however....... thanks for all the replies.

Yeah....don't know about that one. Sometimes you just can't beat getting into a mean rumbling V8.......one that can seriously haul ***.

Well....the black '93 has been sold anyway by the dealer so my decision is even easier now to keep the '95 DX automatic. Plus I used to have a '93 DX 5spd and I let it go at 130k mi, so it's kinda cool to experience another Proter generation. I know it's only a 1.5L but I must say that I really like this '95 DX. It's a nice car....not as powerful as the '93 but fast enough for me plus I think it drives a little smoother than the '93 did.

So to all the 1st gen owners, I know where you're coming from and yes, most of you will beat me at the stoplights........unless I'm driving my Z28
