"squealing" noise in engine
#2
check your belts... mine started squeaking a bit after just a year or two
but a constant squeel could be something like a bearing siezed somewhere like the water pump, alternator etc... or maybe the AC compressor has locked up - try turning the AC off.
otherwise pop the hood & take a look-see, and listen too.

I have a 2007 Mazda3 also hear a squealing noise when engin running and in neutral but when i apply very light pressure on clutch pedal the squeak sound is gone so i open my hood and heard squealing comes from the arm thats attached to the gearbox and covered with a rubber boot. when i put pressure with my hand on that arm the sound just stops but is there immediately after i let go my hand from that arm. even when driving, that sound is still there. any help pls cause i dont have a clue what might be the cause. thanks

@ Weankey - that is the clutch release bearing... easy to replace I think, but I also think the trans has to come out to do it. So since it has to come out, you may want to replace the clutch at the same time since labor is the main $ amount for that repair.
Good luck.
Good luck.

@ djs2571 thanks for your reply and help really appreciate that. I installed a brand new engin with clutch and pressure plate last year november and everything was fine till now with that noise. Took the car back to the dealers and they told me that its "rollover of the gears" but when i open my hood i saw thet even if i hold that arm coming from the gearbox still cause there's a slight vibration on it than the noise is gone. This morning i start my car n all was fine without any noise till now. So mazda said that the squealling noise is normal and it may get worse or just stop but strange enough is than why is it when the car is idling n me holding that short arm steady n still than the noise is gone. I appreciate all ur help.

"So mazda said that the squealling noise is normal" This is complete BS Have them prove that with a new car on the lot bet it's nice & quiet.
They are trying to put you off until the warranty runs out cause they messed it up in the first place.
That bearing may go at any time, or last for a while - i'm not sure how bad they get or exactly what will happen after it fails. I think you'd just loose clutch operation, but probably mess up that fork when it fails too, but that's not an expensive part ($50?).
