Rough Idle.

The last couple of days I have been battling with this Intake and this thing is really pissing me off. As of now I have F2 CAI which I converted to a SRI. I reconnect the negative battery plug, started the car up and let the car run. It goes through the rough idle which is expected cause the ECU is relearning. After that it goes smoothly. My issue....after I let the car sit for hours 8 or more, I start the car up again and I get the same rough idle I got when I first reconnected the battery. It feel like the car is about to cut off cause its struggling to breathe. It goes through this for 20 to 30 seconds then goes back to normal. I can't figure out what I did wrong?! I checked and rechecked the connections, reset the ECU again and still it happens. What causes the car to keep going through a rough Idle? I'm going on day 3 with this issue since the intake is on the car.

I have heard of numerous problems with the newer mazdas knowing there is an intake on the car. In the past you could just throw it on and go...no problem. Now i think the cars are smarter.

Gary hasn't had any problem with his simota intakes causing problems...or none that I've heard of. You should pm him.

yea. Is strange. once the car is running, everything is a blast no problems. After I leave work and get into my car, its like wtf it just reconizes the intake?! I don't know if it makes a difference but the F2 intakes have a 3inch piping.

It's that 3-inch pipe that's killing you. Needs to be smaller in diameter. 2-2.5" pipes don't have the problem usually.
That's one reason why the Simota (and another intake I won't mention since I don't sell it, LOL) don't **** off your picky MAF.

those MAF's are really touchy about pipe diameter....not a whole lot you can do....replace the intake , or deal with it....well you may want to look into the one intakes that also modify the MAF signal..I know they just sell the signal modifier...thye are used on 6's, but I'm sure it'll work on the 3 also

oh ok. I was starting to think it was the intake too but I was confused cause other members are using this same intake without any problems. Mostly 04 members but I haven't seem any 06 and up members with this intake. Then I was starting to think my MAF is dirty so I bought some MAF cleaner. Hhmm....This freaking blows cause now I have to spend additional money I didn't plan on.

Return the CAI stating it was not function for your car, see if the vendor will swap it with a proper one for your model.

Vendors shouldn't be selling items that will cause problems, so they should make good on it.

That's what I'd do anyways.
