Mazda REcall

Mazda Australia is recalling its Mazda3 MPS hot hatch as the engine and transmission may drop. According to the Product Recall Australia website, "a bolt securing the engine and transmission assembly to one of its mounting points may loosen over time".

The website says if the bolt comes out or breaks the engine and transmission assembly can drop, which could "detach the driveshaft and result in the car being unable to be driven".

The recall applies to 1160 cars built from May 22 last year to May 14 this year. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail.

Mazda Australia spokesman Alastair Doak says there have been 11 cases of the faulty bolt to date in Australia. "The engine won't fall out as there are other bolts ... it slumps to one side and the car loses power," he says.

Wait has Mazda NA not issued a recall for this yet?

I too have had a car's engine kinda just drop down and it's a miserable experience. just think of what it does to your axles, especially if it's the tranny side that drops down.. would the car be at all driveable??
