Intake

I need some suggestions on cold air intakes for the mazda 3. I just got hooked up with some more sponsors, so any suggestions on which to get?? I've been thinking about one of the Injen series intakes...

Mazdaspeed CAI

Mazdaspeed makes a CAI for the Mazda 3. Do you happen to know if this unit is made by Mazda or another supplier such as AEM? It looks a lot like an AEM intake.

Gary(kargoboy), sells Simota intakes for a really good price...Supposed to be just as good if not better than injen....

The airflow is better than either...and it's much less expensive.
$95 shipped to the lower 48.

no you won't...bypass pretty much negates any gain the intake gives you....

just dont ride thru any puddles that are like 2 feet deep

i understand, but i go to school in springfield, Mo and the sewers are terrible! whenever it rains i constantly go through puddles that shoot water to the side like a boat! Does this change your point on the bypass or not? thanks

No it doesn't change mine and I'm sure Mike's--he lives in hurricane alley.
The only way you are going to cause any engine damage is by submerging your filter, not splashing water off to the side. Don't forget you have the plastic inner fender well that also helps protect the filter.

if you ABSOLUTELY think you have to have the bypass valve, don't get the intake at all...it would just be a big waste of money...

the BPV negates ANY power gains from the intake

and as Gary said, I live in florida. You don't think water gets bad here ???

the MS CAI is exactly like the AEM, but the MS CAI comes with a splash guard.

Hey guys I just joined the forums, little new to all of this.

This is my first car that I've actually been excited to put money into, or actually worth my time.

I am looking at getting the K&n Typhoon kit for my car. Does anyone disagree with this purchase or think its a waste of my time?
