2.0L Oil Filter on 2.3L

//www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=MorePartInfo&PartID=377250&siteid =214264&catalogid=4010

I found this 2.0L onto a 2.3L and am curious what the purpose of this upgrade is for?
Larger volume?

Thanks.

My first thought was if the warranty would be voided by performing such a conversion. After all, you gotta think the engineers had a reason for using the cartridge-style filter and even if a screw-on works, is it the correct capacity and any other number of specifications that I would think may come into play....
