switched OEM's to "6X8 Infinity Speakers"
Just switched out those paper cone OEM 6"X8" door speakers in the M3 ... to 4 X Infinity 6"X8", 2-way Polypropylene cone, w. directional tweeters ... WOW what a difference! The system sounds infinitely better ... the mid's and high's are now nice and crisp! ... the new speakers really balanced out the 8" sub from the last audio upgrade. I would recommend ditching those OEM speakers right quick to anyone who is into quality audio. I couldn't believe how crappy and cheap those OEM's were ... the cheap-*** paper cones and tweeters don't do the car's OEM system justice.
The install was very simple took about 1.5 hours (had to carefully remove the door panels though) and new speakers were quite cheap on Ebay; cause not many auto MFG'ers use the odd-ish 2-way 6X8 size ... I got the complete set of 4 Infinity's for under $40 USD (and that's really really CHEAP! and WAY under retail for quality speakers).... highly recommended!

... got them from ebay seller: oceansno.1 ... they are a good seller and I have purchased a number of quality electronic items from them ... they usually have the infinity 6X8's up for grabs all the time ... and they usually close at around $20-25 bucks USD ....

The 6x8 size is a direct factory replacement, so no drilling. Screw out the old ones, in the new ones. Some soldering was required when I installed my components in the P5, but I dont know about the 3.
I really like Infiniti speakers. Are these the Reference series?

... yes the ones i got were the "reference series" ... they sound soooo great! .... highly recommended ... and yes there is a bit of soldering .... you hae to clip off the OEM harness from the OEM 6X8's .... then solder the wires to the new 6X8's ... and use the factory screws that you removed for the OEM's ....
... the toughest part is getting the front door panels back on ... just be patient and very careful.
good luck!

I recently helped a friend install some speakers in the back deck of his wifes' Taurus. The store(BEST BUY) had plug-ins for the factory plugs that eliminated the need for cutting and splicing. He paid like $6-7 U.S.
If I have to cut the factory wires, I won't switch the speakers. Anyway, thanks for the info, guys!

This prob should be a new thread ... but ... here is the link for the aluminium billet grill. Great fit ... kind of a tricky install ... but once you figure out how the old grill comes out the install goes fast. Looks great.
And all the other MZ3 tuner-type-peeps check out the grill ... even got asked at a couple stop lights where I picked it up. Good Luck ... any questions let's start a new thread.
