I hate to preach, but I recommend you take your Speed3 to a track. It's worth it and you can REALLY let it fly there.
not to mention that us "old men" pay a hell of a lot less insurance because we're not the car-wrecking idiots that we used to be.

No... Old people don't get in wrecks.... they cause them when people that drive the speed limit try to pass them.

If you want to pass on the public highway, I let you go and clean out the cops so I can fly through scott-free. Occasionally I've found it useful to manipulate a hot headed young buck into zooming off when I need a front door. To add a slight twist to a paraphrased BMW print ad from around 1990, " it's not how fast you go, but how intelligently you go fast".

On the other hand, few people feel the need to pass me because I'm the one doing the passing. I agree completely about the slowpokes being a big part of the problem.

I don't race or anything like that, nor do I feel I need to speed 100% of the time, but when you drive 45mph in the left lane with right blinker on for 45miles on the interstate, then you have a problem. I think that driving tests should be more like the ones in germany.... Difficult!!! I think that each driver should be scaled for skill and nerve (like A Class - C Class). I also think that once you get past a certain age, you should get your license free, but you should have to get it stamped every year.

I hear you. I'm all for "German" driving rules. Slowpokes need to stay the hell out of the passing lane.

I wish we could use the interstate third inside lane for "extra fast transport" with a separate speed limit of 100 or 120 MPH. You would have a big sticker on your car that you would have to pass a VERY rigorous test to earn, and only fast, nimble vehicles could have it. One screw up of any kind and you're out. And no clumsy trucks or SUVs to get in the way or flip over trying to keep up.

Before anyone tries to flame me for this, remember I said "wish". It would be crazy expensive to test and enforce. And we would have to listen to TONS of bitching by the slowpokes who would be excluded from using the left lane where they seem to love to camp out so often.

To summarize, I love to drive fast, but driving is very serious business to me. I have low regard for stupid, inattentive, or incompetent drivers. ...and the roads are full of them...

I am 34, Had a 2005 Mazda 3 Sport. Had an accident and totalled it. Now I have 2 Mazda 3s. a 2007 Sport Touring Sedan and a 2007 Grand Touring Hatch Back for the wife.. My self, I love having fun with my 3. I am planning to upgrade it with a turbo kit in order to catch up with the speed 3. Just in case you ask, why didnt you just buy a speed3? Well, I can not stand HB. They are nice and all that, sportier, but is just not my preference. I also agree with the 40+ members. I take my 2.3 to do auto-X and just do AUTOBAHN driving on some weekends here in South Louisville, KY. Street racing is to costly, either by tickets or by crashing...Plus, its just your word when you explain it while when you at a track, you have slips to prove your time or challenge win...

I dont think that this comment is true. I think is more of an attitude. Have you ever visited www.torontomazda3.ca most of their owners are on the early 20s and they have done some amaizing work on their 3s.. Is a trend I think.. You know, just like when civics, 240s, eclipses, mustands and a few others started. A decent price when you get it and get the challenge of making it faster then others..
