Lightbulb Recalled

Did anyone else get a letter in the mail about the recall? Mine has been. I loose her today I dont know how long I will have without her or if I will ever get her back. My airbags are deafualted. I think it will take some major surgery, but they said I will get her back in 2 days if the problem from manufacturing can be fixed properly. Has anyone else gone through this?

The 3 i'm looking into getting went into the dealer for airbag work, the front crash sensor was tightened to much from the factory. they just replaced the sensor and torqued it correctly. light went off.

For the air bag sensor, it should take no more than 1 hour to repair. I saw a recall letter to another 3 owner, and it specifically stated one hour time to repair. (this of course depending on how busy the dealership is)

I took my car in, it took an hour 1/2. They had to replace the entire sensor, mine had gotten wet and blew the senser and fried it. They replaced it and placed a cover of some sort on it. Kinda scary!! They said that they had not had many people coming in for the recall, that I was like the 10th person. I wonder why?!?!?!

The reason people have not been in is probably due to the fact that it does not present any problems right away. This is not some sort of faulty suspension component that could give way causing complete loss of control, or bad wiring that will light on fire. It simply means the airbag will not deploy in an accident. Most people assume they arent going to get into an accident today or tommorow, so they are waiting till they have some spare time to get it taken care of.

So wait a sec. Is this recall for the sensor in the passenger seat or just airbags not deploying in an accident.

I already got it fixed because it was free and my weekend was patient free (I work in a dental office). They said that it would not deploy in an accident, and some cars are so wacked that they will deploy just by driving. That to me is scary!! It's all done with.

I haven't received a letter yet. Does anyone know if it was all 2004s that were recalled, or just early 2004? Mine was built in July, I believe.

I dont know when mine was built, I am assuming just recently. When I bought my car it had 60 miles on it. I bought it in August also. I dont really have a clue. My letter said 2004's bwtween January ( I think) and August. Maybe you are just lucky.

any 3 that falls between these VIN #'s have been recalled

JM1BK****41100088 - JM1BK****41169916 (the asteriks can be any numbers)

All the ones built between June 4, 2003 and March 22, 2004

Hope this helps

If you check the sticker on the inside of the door...it should have the creation month/year along with your VIN and other info.

Thanks for the info on the recall, especially the VIN range.

My 3's airbags were recalled also. They never sent me any notification though. My friend at the dealership had to tell me about it.

i guess its safe for me to say im happy im in a 05, i think most of those 04 bugs have been fixed, well i"ll see anyway, ive only had my 3 for 2 weeks now, bought it with 7 miles and have about 500 now..
can i ask a quick question?
when no higher than 2500 rpm if u hit the gas hard to accelerate, does your car (3) kinda hesitate or bogg hard kinda like the engine dies for a quick second then comes back in and proceeds to accelerate, i noticed it only will do this in like 1st or 2nd when low in the rpm, anything 3000 rpm and higher it just goes with out the hesitation..

thanks.
