Picking Up My 3 Today

Well, after wanting a 3 since they came out I have finally decided to buy one. I'm picking up an '06 Winning Blue Hatch, 5spd of course. I'm trading in my '05 Scion tC after 7mos because I'm just bored with it. I tend to only hold onto cars for 6mos or so, but I hope that won't be the case with the 3. So, I just wanted to say hello.

Welcome.
Every six months? You must have pretty deep pockets to make up for the depreciation losses.
Probably could have bought a Porsche 911 with what you've thrown away.
Anyway, enjoy your stay for however long it is.

Actually, I've been doing pretty well. It all comes down to trade difference. 7mos ago I paid $15,900 for my Scion. The MSRP for the 3 was $17,975. I received $15,300 for my Scion on trade. So, look at it this way. I am getting $14,500 for my Scion and $800 off the 3. I only pay tax on the trade difference, which is $187. After all the figures are calculated and my amount still owed on the Scion, the total for the 3 comes to roughly $19,700. Now, I know most people are not paying MSRP for the 3, but say I was to just buy it without a trade. Paying MSRP and taxes the total would be $19300. So, I really only end up $400 upside down, which isn't much. I was much further upside down on the Scion. The 3 holds it's value well, so if I were to trade it in the near future I probably wouldn't take a huge hit.
