Performance mods?

Are there any bolt-on performance mods available for the latest Mazda3s such as turbo kits, exhaust mods, CAI's, etc... that can be installed at the dealer prior to taking delivery of a new Mazda3, and do not void the factory warranty?

The Mazdaspeed3 makes a lot of sense except:

1). I fear the ADMs will put that well into the Mustang GT pricing (which I already have)

2). It's a station wagon. I want something small and compact. I'd prefer a 2 seater coupe with all the options of the Mazda3, and at the Mazda 3 pricing.

I spec'd out a new 08 Mazda3 S Grand Touring, fully loaded at around $22k invoice (S-plan). The only thing it needs is limited slip, about 50-100 more horsepower, and tires that work well in snow and on wet/dry pavement. The 205/50R17 tire choices are expensive and limited. I want Goodyear triple Treds!

You can get a factory-installed performance exhaust (might just be a muffler), a cold air intake, and that's about it. It'll get you MAYBE 5-8 more wheel horsepower.

If you want 50-100 more horsepower than the 3, but don't want a wagon (I <3 wagons but don't like the look of the Mazda3 in general), how about a Mazdaspeed6?

Unlike the MS3, is has the ability to get all of it's 270hp to the ground :P

Could I factory order a Mazdaspeed 6? I think I can even use the S-Plan.

MS6's aren't made anymore. You'll need to choose one off the lot or buy a used one. I sold mine with only 10k on it and it was in mint condition for $23k.

I agree on the LSD...but 50-100 hp ???

are you smoking crack ? a 365hp fwd car ??? it would be practically undriveable as a daily driver...boost is already limited in fisrst and second gear to control torque steer and wheel spin....

That's 50-100 hp extra on the Mazda3, not the MS3 or MS6. I'm not sure where you got the idea I wanted to add that much hp on the 274 hp MS6...

he didn't get the MS3 because he doesn't like station wagons ( )

so he's doing this to the regular sedan 3.

But yeah it's all totally doable, but not within the realm of your warranty at all. I was basically in the same situation. Mazdaspeed Protege was nice, but I really wanted the wagon, so I spent way more money than it would have cost to just get the MSP from the start to make my car faster than the MSP --you just have to throw caution (and your warranty) to the wind and go for it.
