Pacific Northwest Winter Driving

Just bought a used 2009 Mazda3 I Touring Value. It does not have any TCS or DSC systems and it still has the original Goodyear tires on 17" wheels.

For you experienced 3 Touring drivers in the PNW, how has the car performed in rain, light slush, or ice? Did I make a mistake by not getting a 3 with TCS/DCS? Will getting better tires close any safety gap?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

haveing tires that are enginned for specific road condishions will inprove the safety but TCS is the best when compromising for low trc condishion. The systems will take controle of the engine and the brakes fore you so that you do not slide. BUt its just a computer and it only as good as its told to be.So tires will help but nothing can keep you form sliding I recomend soft compond snow tire non-studded so you can run all year[beter for autocross]. mine dose not do good in the fresh snow. Try out a seat on a CX-7 there kool and thay have a turbo
