New Mazdaspeed 3! few questions...

Hey guys, just got my car on saturday, and it's awesome! It's very tempting to speed like crazy, but I'm still trying to break it in.

I haven't taken pics yet, but I will soon!

I have a few questions first!

1) The first day I was cruising, on some of the turns I took, I would hear a scraping sound in the back of my car. I believe I heard it around my right rear wheel (maybe I'm not quite sure). Ever since then it's gone now, but any idea what that was?

2) When I depress my brakes, I can hear air from the brake pedals...is this normal? The brakes work fine and brake great. Just curious if this was normal, because I haven't experienced this in any other car.

A "whooshing" sound can be normal or it can be a sign of an air leak in the booster. The booster gets air from inside the passenger cabin to create the differential in pressure that's why you here the noise (some high-end luxury cars get underhood air to avoid the noise).

The thicker the filter installed in the housing the less noise, but the slower the response and the worse the pedal feel. It's pretty much common sense, the quicker air enters the "open" chamber of the booster the quicker the response.

I'll listen for it myself next time I'm in the car and let you know, so far I've had the windows open so the air noise would have masked the whoosh.

What where your other cars? BMW's have underhood inlets, but my now sold WRX made a very loud whooosh.
