Missing 4 cylinders.....

New to the forum,as well as a vehicle with less than 6 cyls.Proud to have an '05 3 4dr .2.0 stick.Happy as hell w/ the ride but could use some input on any tricks than can be set-up to get more HP and torque from the motor w/out going through exhaust mods.Personally not a fan of the "can" mufflers I hear tearing up and down the road, rather would spend the bling on stereo equip.
The only change it has now is from the previous owner who slapped some 225/40/18 sneakers on it which beleive me makes it STICK to the road, and lets you drive it like you stole it,which helps with basic survival skills while commuting in central/north Jersey.Any advice would be appreciated, look forward to talking again.

Hey, welcome to the forum. And to the Mazda culture!

Unlike V8s, there's not too much power in Mazda's 4 cylinder engines that can be untapped with simple bolt-ons. If you want more than an extra 10 or 20 hp, there is at least one turbo kit available for the Mazda3i. If you're not willing to invest in a turbo, your money is probably better spent on suspension parts and a short shifter.

Check protegegarage.com.

Thankz for the input,Suspension was on the list but the short shifter idea never came to mind. While on the subject is there a stiffer clutch out there rather than the vague unit the stocker came with?
