Metal Sound when starting my 2005 Mazda 3 2.3l auto

When starting the car there is a metal sound when I turn the key. But after the metal sound goes away and the engine runs smoothly and there are no abnormal noises occurring. What could be the cause of the problem? The car has a 100k on it. Another question is should I change the transmission fluid on the car if it has 100k on it?

Probably the starter gear when it meshes with the flywheel. Some vehicles you can shim them to align them better with the flywheel.
Check the gear teeth as well as on the flywheel.
