Mazda3 -- Moisture Under Floor Mats

Hello all. Recently, the two rear doors of my wife's 2005 Mazda 3 were full of water. I solved this by cleaning out the drain plugs on the bottom of the doors...lots of water came out. During this time, a moldy smell had developed in the car, but has since dissipated after I drained the doors. I checked the belt moldings on the exterior of the windows and they look good.

While the doors were full of water, and even since I drained them, the bottoms of the driver side front/rear removable floor mats seem to have a little bit of moisture on them (on the plastic spikey part). The surrounding carpet itself does not feel wet at all. I know a lot of people seem to say it could be the heater core or a clogged air conditioning drain plug, but the carpet itself is not wet...only the plastic bottoms of the floor mats. Could there be residual moisture within the interior of the vehicle from the doors being full of water? I live in a hot, humid state, and my wife sets the a/c to the split setting (a/c hits your face and your feet), so could that be the issue (cold air hitting the floor mats, creating moisture)?

Any help would be appreciated.
