Mazda 3 lurking like you're on and off the accelerator

I love my Mazda 3, but recently have been having issues. The first problem was it would completely loose power and splutter for awhile while driving then be all good again, and of course it would never do it while showing a mechanic. Then eventually the check engine light came on, and I thought finally a diagnostic tool should be able to tell us the problem. The 02 sensor was warm out and replaced, the car was driving fine for a day, now it has a new problem. At idle and foot down to the floor it drives fine, but in the mid range while accelerating normally the car lurches as if you are bouncing your foot on the accelerator, not as if there is a misfire or anything like that. I notice the throttle body is making a buzzing sound and I'm wondering if the buttifly inside the throttle body could be fluttering back and forth in the mid range of opening and closing.
Unfortunately my car won't run with the intake disconnected, so I can't view while running. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Maybe a damaged wire to the throttle body? Has anyone experienced anything like this?
