Is Mazda 3 hatchback a good family car?
We are considering a Mazda 3 for our family and want a little advice from folks who would know- Is this a good family car? We have 2 children. We are looking for a comfortable car that gets good gas mileage and have heard so much great stuff about a Mazda3. We do mostly light city driving but do a yearly road trip. Also- we are both about 5'10. Is this car fairly roomy/comfortable? Any advice would be helpful. We will most likely test drive one this weekend but want to know before we head out and anything in particular we should look for... It is basically between a Mazda 3 hatch and a crossover type.

Hello,
I have an 09 Mazda3 hatchback, and find it to be great for family trips and around town driving. There is plenty of room for the family (I bought the car when both kids were in their late teens), and the amount of room with the seats down for trips to the home improvement store is truly cavernous. The fact that it is fun to drive (and gets good mileage) is a real bonus.
Good luck with your car shopping!

I think it's a great family car. One thing I will note is that we have a HUGE carseat for our daughter (Recaro) and because it's still rear-facing, I get a little tight in the driver's seat when she's in the car, but I'm over 6'. I would recommend taking everyone (and any special seats any children need) and trying it out for size.
It's a super car for road trips, comfortable, quiet, economical, etc.
