Mazda 3 Front Bumper Question

Hello,

Was wondering if someone could help me out? I just got my new Mazda 3 GT GFX about a month ago. LOVE IT! Anyhow, I was at the mall over the weekend and when I came out to the parking lot, someone's front bumper was touching mine. I noticed two tiny indents on my front bumper, exactly parallel to one-another (each a few inches on either side of the bottom centre of the grill, but on the bumper portion). Anyhow, there weren't any scratches or scuffs, when I confronted the guy who parked his car 'into' mine, he argued and said 'someone must of pushed my car into yours'. Needless to say, I wasn't going to stand there and argue with him (seeing as there really wasn't any damage other than these two tiny indentations).

I went to a repair place that only does 'dent repairs' with some sort of tool. They took a look at my bumper, and because the two tiny indents were exactly the same distance from the bottom centre of the grill, they came to the conclusion that they had already been there, that they were a 'manufacturer mould' for a place to screw in a front license plate.

Could someone please let me know if this is true? Like I said, they are both EXACTLY the same distance away from the bottom centre of the grill, are both the EXACT same size, and are both 'indented' in EXACTLY the same way.

Your help would be appreciated - thanks!

Thanks JDM-P5! So, my bumper wasn't even damaged then? Those indentations are supposed to be there? If so, man - do I feel like a dork!

'fraid so....they are there because some states require a front license plate, so of course you need a place to mount them.

Thanks guys for answering my questions. I guess I just didn't notice the indentations there before all this happened, I'm glad to hear they're supposed to be there. Appreciate everyone's help!

I just kind of feel like a dork for telling the guy 'look at the dents' when it wasn't even him but (oh well) stuff happens I guess. Thanks so much for all of your help, I'll be sure to post some pics of my '3' as soon as I can! Thanks for the welcome to the club also (o:
