Mazda 3 2005: Computer Updates

I took my Mazda 3 in the other day for some maintenance and it was mentioned that there are computer updates available for the transmission. My car is out of warranty and one dealer mentioned charging $90 for doing the updates. Is this normal to be charged for a computer update?

Also, anyone else know where you can see history on all of the computer updates that have been available?

see what the upgrade is for... if you don't have any trans issues there should be no need. And if it's an upgrade cause they found a problem - I call that a warranty problem / recall issue which should have no time limit.
And remember that the powertrain has a 5 year 60k warranty BTW - so you may be covered that way.
