A muffler alone will not get you ANY power.

All it will get you is noise. If you want ANY power, you'd have to open up the exhaust with new piping as well, and even a high flow cat and headers.

I have a PZEV 2007 mazda 3 hatchback and I just finished changing my exhaust last week.

Basically my exhaust is like this:

headers - 1st cat - 2nd cat - resonator - muffler - muffler - tip

What I did to customize my exhaust to give it a better sound and a little more hp, I had the muffler shop cut after my resonator.

Then i did the following,

cut after resonator - 2.25" piping - vibrant muffler - 2.25" piping - vibrant exhaust tip

What this did is open up the exhaust more by putting bigger pipng and removing that second muffler. It gave my exhaust a nice deep growl and a little extra boost
