Japanspeed 3!
Hey everyone!
Appreciate all the advice on my last post (I wanna go fast!) i got a lot out of it.
The situation has changed though. Dec. 27 i check into my new command in Atsugi Japan for three years. Now, i love my 07 Mazda 3GT, but i test drove an 07 speed 6gt and an 08 speed 3s this past week and definately became jealous of the difference i felt in the turbo. 120mph in 3rd gear in the 6, nuff said. But i don't think the price is right. The 6 would cost me 581 a month after 2k down, and the 3 was 560 a month with 2k down. I'd be trading my 3gt in for about 16k, which is why i still drive it. I'm not about to lose about 8 grand in a car i've only own for 3 months. That negative equity thing sucks.
Now, i'm thinking what i wanna do is have the Navy ship my car over to japan where i can put it up in the Navy Auto Hobby shop and just kinda use it as a project tuner, upgrading here and there when i get a surplus of cash and a little time. (I don't know everything about cars, but i can follow a manual good and i have pretty decent mechanical sense!) and rarely drive it due to japanese reasons; high gas, insurance, and registration purposes.
Another idea is that i bite the bullet, trade in my 26k car for 17, and buy a big block american ford or dodge. Something in high demand but low supply in japan. Fix it up when it gets to japan and sell it over there for crazy money.
What does everyone think? I don't know exactly how expensive living in japan will be, and the ratio of what i make to that figure, but right now i'm waiting tables part time and making 1000/month car payments. Do i wanna play with my front wheel drive (no drifting for me o_o
mazda 3gt over there, buy the fwd speed 3 and go total ricer on it in japan, or get the awd speed 6 and hope i can afford the payments?
Then there's the american car idea....gah....
Well thanks for any advice in advance. Ya'll keep in mind you got a mazda enthusiast in japan come december, who's fine with shipping parts back to the states for like-minded unique tuner guys on a budget!

Hmm in the Navy, I remember those days... I traded an 05 Honda Civic Hybrid in on my 07 Mazda speed3 so I know what low equity is! And yes it stinks! But hey we were bored with the Civic so now were not! I had Mazda put the cold air intake and cat back exaust on our new speed3, Window tint, and the satin gas lid and boy I must say it's a sweet ride! It's the arrest me red but hey I'm getting a Valentine one radar detector to help me out. Anyway as long as u can afford it u only live once! And only stay young for 50 or 60 years

I probably should have asked the price with the CAI, lowering springs and catback, since if i were to buy it i'd probably do all that a little down the road... If i went with my gut i'd be taking it to japan but i really can't rush this decision, y'know? Trying to do the intelligent thing here....hah hah!
