Need advice on replacing low-beam headlamp. Question1: Does black male/female (not harness) mate with the headlamp before installing lamp? My main problem is locking the lamp in place with the flexible locking pin. I can't seem to locate where it gets placed so that the lamp doesn't wiggle. I have tried with and without using the black male/female connection before attempting to lock lamp in place. Thanks bunch!

1: what kinda car do you drive?
2: in my Protege5, I had to fiddle with that locking pin/wire for awhile before I found the sweet spot. It's tough to see down there, and even tougher to fit your hand between the washer res. and the h/l housing. It's doable, though.

Thanks for replying. I have a 2005 Mazda 3. I finally took it to the Advance Auto supply. I got too frustrated. Apparently part of the shiny metal spring ( very end?) clips under a shiny metal (small) "receiver". It pays to be attentive and look before disassembling anything, especially when in close quarters and/or doing something new or not very often. It was worth buying him a coffee and danish!

Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I'm stoked that you got it dealt with. That locking mechanism is tough to get at.
