I have the 2009 Mazda 3s HB. The low fuel warning light came on today. When my wife filled up she got 11.8 gallons. The owners manual states that the tank has 14.5 capacity. Does the fuel warning light go on when the the tank still has almost 3 gallons left? There was hardly any gas left according to the gas gauge.
Can someone enlighten me? Thanks....

well, the tank IS a 14.5 gallon tank, however, long story short most vehicles need that extra space for gas fumes and all that good toxic stuff. so in my experience, you can fill up to about 12.5 gallons. the light usually comes on at approximately one gallon left.

per my experience and the manual the light comes on at 3 gallons. Oh and you can fit 14.5 gallons of liquid into the tank. I've done it.
