I get around 28-30MPG mixed city/town/highway driving, and I drive relatively hard. Then again I also don't do stupid stuff.

I.E accelerating only to arrive at a red light and having to press the brakes, then having to accelerate again. That's what KILLS gas mileage for me. As long as you can keep your momentum and stop wasting energy slowing down then reaccelerating you should be able to break 25MPG IMO.

ya i have a 60mi round trip to work... 98% highway and my average stays at 30.00@70-80mph.... but once i hit the city streetz...it goes way down... but only because im an extremely spirited driver on non-highway roads...zoomin from here to there as fast as possible lol.....this is on an 07 mazda3i 5spd on 17's with 245/45/17 tires.....so im not complaining!!!

My wife and I drove 180miles round trip the other day in the speed3 and averaged right about 27 mpg. Our speed was bettween 70 - 80 on the Hgw... Going with the traffic pretty much. Oh and we were both very happy with how good it rode ECT.
I'll tell you the speed3 is in the running for being the best car we have ever owned!
The gas mileage really is a lot better that we could have ever hoped.

Remember that the city/highway mileage you see on the window sticker is an "average". If you read the fine print underneath it will state that it could be lower, or higher depending on environment, driving styles, fuel used, etc..

Since the recall PCM reflash, I'm getting 28+ MPG all around with the MS3. What's blowing my mind is that it seems to get well over 30MPG if I drive it very gently (I can only stand it for so long) and avoid stop & go. It still drinks when you hammer it, so driving style makes all the difference, but so far the potential for oddly high MPG seems to be there.

Anyone else with an MS3 notice it?

i lived in houston for over a year... road conditions are harsh...
also, do you drive during rush hour(s)... that will kill you gas, and i'm assuming a/c is constantly flowing? but yeah, easy on the throttle and avoid heavy traffic and road constuctions (if thats possible) and the numbers will go up

I'm a rather new mazda 3 owner. Recently bought a '08 mazda3 4dr i-sport 5spd. I've filled it up 3 times, and my mpg have been 30, 35, & 32 mpg.

After owning my 3 for a month, i'm happy with the mpg. I average 32.4 mpg in the first month of ownership.
