Connector under dash

I just recently found some type of connector to something underneath my steering column right above the trunk pull. I have a 2006 mazda 3 does anyone else have this and do you know what its for? Also Im learning about ipod connectors for stereos and wondering if there was one that connects directly to the stereo and where to buy and how to install thanks!!

If you're talking about the connector mounted inside the little pocket by your left knee that's the OBD II port used to interface with the car's computer and connect diagnostic equipment.

As for ipod connectors I've got you covered! http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=62624.0
