cold air intake m3

Do cold air intakes void your waranty?
Are they worth the trouble?
I found a good site with aftermarket parts for the m3. Has anyone heard of the intake on the site? heres the link http://www.srmotorsports.com/Mazda3_...nce_Parts.html

No, they are worthless. They are sold using the P.T. Barnum marketing strategy: "There's a sucker born every minute."

does anyone have a cold air intake installed
Does it make a big difference in acceleration
The one on the website listed above claims 10 hp which seems like it would make a big difference in the acceleration of a light car like the 3

The CAI are well worth the money and gives good performace. Thats why everyone has them. I was told by my dealer that no it would not void the warrenty as long as the CAI was not the cause of the problem. Just don't run it through 3 feet of water.

someone was already asking about this site with the 3 "performance" parts... you might as well just take out your intake manifold and put holes in your exhaust if you are going to buy from that cheap bootleg site...

yeah buy the injen or the aem and they do make difference i had one in my car it did make a difference just buy that and a exhaust

and somebody said something about 3 feet of water thats rite you can go to deep water like if is raining ok but if there is deep water you can go trou it cause the cold air intake will suck it up and that will friking blow your engine or mess it up real nice now an intake will not do that only the cold air now there is aprotertor that will block the water and that should help you out

yo miles, the AEM one is better (according to my research), I might be getting the new intake, called the V2 I think its called, is an intake, that pretty much screws off on this certain point and you can buy the CAI adapter. This way, when it is the raining season out, use the regular intake adapter, and when its not raining out, use the CAI one. Also, according to my research, it may take about 30 minutes to install, depending on how much you know about cars...

I have a friend who hydrolocked his modified Mazda 6 by fording a fairly deep dip. He had kept all the old parts and just put em back on. There was a little head scratching as to how it happened, but in the end his 6 got a new engine.

Heed Hughes' warning, your not running a hummer with a snorkel, so don't drive like it.

AEM has a bypass valve ... Injen has a sheild? which one will protect my motor better in the case of water ... can you run a bypass valve and a sheild with the AEM? ... are short ram intakes as effective? .. I'm in Toronto, ON is it considered "wet" for CAI's here? ... sorry for the stupid questions i'm new here. thanks.

those are no stupid questions... AEM has this V2 intake i think its called... you can buy a CIA attachment, since the V2 is a 2 piece intake, and will get the same power of the CAI, but they said on www.aemintakes.com that the V2 itself has gotten more power than the AEM CAI... As of right now they do not have that particular intake out for the mazda 3, yet... so meanwhile i will just work on appearance and maybe get just a muffler for now, make it sound a lil nice because i cant stand that stock muffler lol
