Question 3 Vs tC

I was going to trade in my 01 es for the 3 until i saw the scion tc; what a looker!! Both cars have a 160 hp engine but the tC would be getting a dealer installed supercharger . Knowing how dependable both mazdas and toyota(scion parent company) my question is what do u guyz think about the tC?? I will be sad to get rid of my pro es after all the time and $$$$ and only 34,000 on it.......i will think long and hard but i like the look and price of the tC.

I just saw a commercial for the tC yesterday, I've got to admit it looks pretty hot! I can't give an opinion until I see one in person though, commercials can make a Hyundai look sexy (well, almost). Are you sure there's a supercharger option? I looked on the website yesterday after seeing the commercial, and I don't remember seeing it listed anywhere.

I also heard about the tC and the supercharger option....even with the supercharger it's only going to make 200hp.

I would say to stick with ther Mazda3 and buy yourself one of the great new turbo kits that are coming out for it....honestly which platform do you think is better?!?! One co-designed by mazda, ford and volvo or one buy toyota's Value-team??

I did a quick search and found many references to the SC option, you're right Rod, 160 N/A, 200 S/C. Not a very big gain for the likely $2-3000 it costs, although having a warranty on it would be nice.

$2-3K my butt! I bet it's a $5K option! Look at their other S/C models...the 4-runner I think and one other.....WAY pricey!

yeah, have you checked out the price tag also?? 50% higher than the mazda.

I like my license plate....I have all of the features and stats of a BMW 318i with a price tag less than half.... "BMW WHO"

no way... the supercharger is a "dealer option". Just like the one for the 4-runner....Ford and GM have been doing this for years. You can get it at anytime, but it'll only carry the remainder of the factory warranty. So if you buy it at 35K miles you get a 1K mile warranty....(assuming the warrnaty period is 36K).

Chris, Electrical is finished now. I'm just getting everything organized and will start getting some work turned out shortly. I'll keep you posted.

The BMW will be Rear Wheel Drive...that alone makes it interesting..too bad the biggest motor is only 2 liters.

Hard to tack on a SC or Turbo when you have 9.5/1 or greater compression and get horsepower without breaking stuff.

To do it right, you better have an intercooler, low compression pistons, forged rods, big *** fuel rail, giant fuel pump
Those who slap on a 3000 kit without the above, get 30-50 horsepower.

Those who do it right, get 100hp.

.

9.5:1 compression isn't a problem for turbo or supercharger. It requires better tuning but I had my turbo pinto running 11:1 compression and 5psi....didn't last long on the stock ecu though!
