Warranty

I have a 2007 Mazda 3. A friend told me I did not have to get the oil changed at the dealership to keep the warranty in tact. He takes his to Walmart and uses synthetic Moble 1. He told me that they send the service data to Mazda so they know he is keeping his warranty up to date. Is this true and if it is, what happens when you come to your 30k checkup. Will a dealer accept the fact that you have had the oil changed elsewhere?

as long as you use oil that meets the manufacturer's specs and change at the suggested interval. it doesn't matter who does it. that being said, i've always had the dealer change mine just because i'm lazy.

I called Walmart and they stated they could not replace the filter because if was a canister type and they had no way to do it. But my question was answered. Thanks- Sammieg
