Thumbs up up-coming in HOUSTON

For all of you in the Houston or surround area...there is a HUGE event happening starting Friday March 8th and running through Sunday March 10th. Its the WORLD IMPORT CHALLENGE. its being held at the HOUSTON RACEWAY PARK near Baytown. there is going to be racing and a HUGE car show....there are supposed to be nearly 500 cars in the show alone. if you have never been to this track...you are missing a prime opportunity. This IS the fastest drag strip in the country....and if you plan on being here for the entire event....on Friday night at the Racetrack they have what is called "Street Night" the gates open at 5:00. Time triles start at 5:30 and run till 10:30....its a RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG all out aginst you and the clock...or the guy next to you.....you are given timeslips for every run....and its ONLY $15!! you run as many times as you like.

this has GOT to be a major event......there is a caravan coming all the way from L.A. Cal to the event.

you can check out the Tracks site Calendar of events at :

http://www.houstonraceway.com/cal2000/hr032002.htm

just click on the link of the event in the days box and it will give you more information. Hope to see some of you there! :{D

Maybe no replies because they are all on their way!

I'm planning on heading over there from Austin. I know a few buddies (Honda fans and owners) will be joining me at the WIC (although one co-worker who owns a heavily restored '68 or '69 Camaro only wants to go because of the models ). I'm trying to hit both IR and WIC, but a few of us are split between spending all the time at WIC or at least check out the IR for a few hours (somewhere in our plan I know there is gambling involved cuz of Lake Charles, but I'll be out of that agenda this time... no interest in losing money at the moment. ).

Honestly, the last couple of car shows I've been to in Houston sucked. Last time I went there and paid around $15-$18 for a ticket and left after 30 minutes. With nothing really spectacular or new, it's a pitiful way of wasting money.

This time though, only reason I want to check out the IR car show is because I hear there will be one Mazda MP3 participating. I'd be happy to check it out and show my support for a fellow Mazda owner (except for RX-7s because they shine on their own without anyone's support).

well guys...if you see someone wearing a VIVID YELLOW ballcap, with the mazda text log and ZOOM ZOOM in black under it....I had the hat special made....and a NO FEAR shirt with the flaming skull that you see in my signature on the back with HIGH OCTANE around it....THAT BE ME! I will be at both....me and a Maxima buddy are going to IR on Saturday....and Graigrrrp and I are going out to WIC on sunday.....hope to see you guys around. Just like I mentioned somewhere before....the club really needs destinctive T-shirts for things like this...then we could take them to shops ourselves and have our usernames put across the shoulders so you could easily find each other in a crowd....that would be cool.....
