I went to the 1/8 miles races friday.
the first car i raced against was a 1st gen pro
IT LOOKED STOCK.
ive never ever seen a car that quick on the start.
he made 8.66 on the 1/8 mile.wich is as fast as the big block v8's (chevelles, etc).i was laughing my pants off.
he had a turbo from a gtx on a gtr engine.with 4x4.
hahahaaaaaaaa whoa man he was fast as hell.

it was sedan protege,1 st gen,4x4.
with stock looking everything.he had the same wheels than me and thats all.
even the guy looked innocent.
his reaction time was .004 on his 1st run that night.
he was in his late 30's for sure and he must have drag raced a lot in his life.
he asked me what i had done on my pro but never told me about his.
when the guy with the microphone said :''here goes the fastest protege with another protege'',i was like,it cant be me...
it wasnt me.
damn cool.

I am pretty sure all overseas AWD Protege GTX's had the turbo engine, only the North American models had the SOHC non-turbo engine.

are you sure?

should have been a GTR turbo on a GTX engine...as the GTR turbo is bigger, it would think it wouldn't be too wise to put the smaller GTX turbo on the GTR engine.

Thats cool. I remember i knew this jamacian guy in new york with a GLC with a 13B single turbo swap. I've never seen him loose a race the car was gutted and probably waid about 2000 pounds the funniest thing is every time he went to race he had to push start it. That car was stupid fast i never seen a car come out the hole like that little peice of ****. The car also looked like it just came out of the junk yard. Beware looks can be very decieving.I think he was running 10s.

If I were to guess, he probably put a GTR/GTX engine and tranny into a 4wd Protege. The tranny is the weak part in the 4wd, but since many of the GTX motors come to the US packaged with their trannies, I'd imagine it wouldn't be that hard to do the swap (alot easier than converting a FWD Protege to a 4wd) since the driveshaft is already there, and the output is on the GTX tranny. Don't know about compatability though.
