Stock P5 Autocrossing - Tire Pressures?
#2
Awesome, thanks! I'm running Saturday, should be a fairly warm day.
Question, I used to run a quattro A4 that was really hard to get out of whack.
What combination of pressures will cause over/understeer?

Well, the main cause for understeer is the driver Low front presures can cause roll over and feel like understeer but if you raise the rears until you get the rear to kick out more, you'll soon find the right combo. raise then by 1 to 2 lbs at a time. A pyrometer would come in handy you can tighten the rear sway bar for a bit more oversteer. Driving technique is key.

I would try running either ~34 psi in the rear and reducing rear pressure to increase oversteer, or running 45+ lbs and adding pressure to increase oversteer. Both methods will make the rear end break loose; it's largely a driver feel issue. My personal preference is 40F/32R. You should keep the front tires between 40-45 psi to maximize grip.
With a good alignment, a stock G3 Protege will turn in really well for an HS sedan IMHO setting the rear toe at zero will make the car rotate much more predictably than playing with tire pressure. I actually think that rear toe-out would probably make the car turn TOO aggressively.
Good luck!
