New Tires for Autocross
For those of you interested, there is a new R- Compound tire available for SCCA Solo2 (autocross) use. Its called "Michelin Pilot Sport Cup". It's on the Tirerack website and available in a few sizes (starting at 205-50-15).
They look like a cross between a Hoosier and Kumho- assimetrical design. They are very pricey!
for a 225-50-15 they are $202 (hoosier is $175, Kumho is $115)
However, they do have a 6/32 tread depth (like Kumho), as compared to the 4/32 tread depth of Hoosier- so they should offer better life and wear than the Hoosier.
As far as grip-- -who knows?? Has anyone ever heard of these tires or know anyone who has used them? They may have to set up a nice contingency program to get people to use them at these prices!!
I opted for the Hoosiers this time

Interesting .. go Michelin !
I haven't decided on tires yet for this season but I need them for all-day driving as well as autox so I won't be getting an R-compound just yet. Maybe the normal Pilot Sport.
Khumos seem already pricing around here $220 or so .. I'll check on the Micelin prices as well now.
Thanks for the update.

Awww ... ******' figures they wouldn't make any sizes to fit my car.
Grr so much for that.
