Davard 1st in PAX

OK, so I'm blowing my own horn here, but at this past weekend's Cal Club (LA region) autocross, I not only won STS, but I finished 1st overall in PAX. Out of over 200 drivers.

It helped that the Pro class drivers had to run first (as the surface gets a lot faster during the day), but STS ran 2nd (8 groups total). And at least one of the current National Champs I beat ran in the 4th group.

The results aren't posted yet, but here is STS. At least the first 15 or so (out of 40)

Congrats,

I'm glad a protege took first. And boy was that track hard.. But fun.
I didn't DNF like most people but I had a sloooowwww time for
the first run. I showed up about 2-3 minutes before they let the
first car through. Had a hard time finding the place. Luckly spotted
cones next to the gate. If I didn't see that I would have went
back to SD.

Well congrats again.

Nice job David

I see Darryl is on that list as well. Congrats to both of you!

I am sure you've posted this somewhere but I think it's proper to ask again. What is your complete suspension setup ??

Thanks, I drove Davids car, but didn't find a handle on it till near mid 3rd run and happen to hit the very last cone....and like Richie, i had no course walk...

David is an excellent driver and i am glad to have him to compete against and have as a friend.

Great job David, Congrats!!!

Mazdaspeed MX-3 struts with coil-over sleeves. 250lb front springs and 200 lb rear springs. ST 3/4" front bar, Quickor 1" rear bar, Ground Control camber plates. Pacesetter Armor-coat header, stock piping with a Walker Dynomax turbo muffler. K&N drop-in filter. Enkei RP-01 15 x 7 rims with 205/50-15 Falken Azenis. Alignment zero toe front and rear, ~2 deg. negative camber in front, 0.75 neg in rear. Shocks generally set full stiff front and rear.

And Jesse, I actually beat Will (who's been coneman lately) last month. Unfortunately, Hiroo was faster. I was 3rd in PAX that event, although an FJ kart was first (she was 3rd this month).

All the Protege guys are doing pretty well in STS.

Makes me sad to think I PAX around 150th in a 300 car event.

ahem....and a 1" OTLM front lower tie bar

(the car is just too quiet, the header may have made a difference to your ear, but compare it to my exhaust and it's not even running )

waiting in line in grid, David is in the car, i'm outside standing there,

David....you'll have to get use to the fact it's very quiet
Darryl....mmm, ya, with a helmet on, it will be pretty quiet
David.... it's so quiet you can even hear it running, can you?
Darryl.... <thinks to himself, is David high?> Uhhh, nope, quiet as can be!
David....<turns key on with evil grin> It wasn't even running
Darryl....<chooses this moment to walk away>

Sorry about that, Darryl. The only time I seem to remember that it's there is when I drive over something tall, like a tennis ball.
