General: How to stop (some) interior rattles

Maybe this has been posted before. If so, here goes again. I hated having my coins rattle around in the ashtray (because there's no other place to store much change in the Protege) and keys or cell phone vibrate in the cup holders. Just get yourself some foam or felt at the local Walmart, craft store, etc. and cut to shape. The ash tray is a little tricky because of its shape - take it out and look down inside and you'll see. For the cupholders just find the right sized cup or glass and use it as a template. It's worked great for me. Hope this is of some use to you.

Thats a good idea, but the only rattle I have had is the Deep loud roar from my muffler which causes my window brake light to rattle a little bit when i am accelerating quickly.....my muffler is my main problem...I havnt had many more rattles other than that...what year have you got?

Rattles

Thanks for the link, but I've got a sedan. I removed the 3rd brake light on mine and put some adhesive felt between it and the rear deck. I also moved the brake light wire and connector out of the way. Rattle all gone! At least so far.

I don't think the rear view mirror should rattle... sounds like it could be broken

Yeah the rear view mirror is not real well designed. It rattles pretty profusely whn my sub is off, and when the bass is turned up, I can't use it.

what about rattles that sound like they are coming from under the dash? after i put in my short shifter, it sounds like there is a faint rattling under the shift panel whenever i lift my foot off the gas pedal. i have the mirror under control, but i have a paper thing i have to hang on my mirror for the parking garage at work. thats starting to vibrate when i accelerate. i seem to have caused more rattles than fix! d'oh!
