cabin air filter replacement
cabin air filter replacement
How do I remove the glove box in my 2006 Mazda 3 so I can replace the cabin-air filter? I've done it on a Toyota Camry, but this doesn't look the same. The only help I got from my Mazda shop was that I should do it in a warm place, because I could break some plastic parts, and that they could do it for $20, which makes it sound pretty easy. Thanks.
The dealer told me every 30K miles. When they start getting dirty you will notice the air flow going away. I had mine changed because I was afraid it would decide to clog up on the coldest day of the winter and I would not have much heat. The last time I tried to find aftermarket filters no one had any. The dealer was the only one. They may be available as aftermarket now.

I replaced mine at the dealer in Vancouver, BC area on July 23, 2013. Cost for parts + labor Cdn $74.99 + tax. The cost for the aftermarket (Fram) filter is $37 so I decided to get it done at the dealer. I have a 2006 Mazda 3 GT. One noticeable improvement was the increase in cabin air flow. My mileage is 142, 293 km and this is the first time I have replaced it.
Resurrecting this again because I just changed this filter on our 2005. I disconnected the battery, pulled off the glove box, removed the fuse panel, and opened the filter cover to realize most 04's and 05's didn't come with one. They instead have a little plastic tray that sits in it's place.
All well, put one it, fiddled with the fuse box for a while, and all is good.
I took a bunch of pictures and wrote a how-to here: Mazda 3 cabin air filter replacement
