cabin air filter replacement
How do I remove the glove box in my 2006 Mazda 3 so I can replace the cabin-air filter? I've done it on a Toyota Camry, but this doesn't look the same. The only help I got from my Mazda shop was that I should do it in a warm place, because I could break some plastic parts, and that they could do it for $20, which makes it sound pretty easy. Thanks. |
let me see what I can find..
ah there it is. you have a PM |
I had the dealer change mine and it was located under the dash behind the console. I think they got to it by taking the side panel off on the concole. Hope this helps.
|
How often should these be changed?
|
The dealer told me every 30K miles. When they start getting dirty you will notice the air flow going away. I had mine changed because I was afraid it would decide to clog up on the coldest day of the winter and I would not have much heat. The last time I tried to find aftermarket filters no one had any. The dealer was the only one. They may be available as aftermarket now.

Thank you! Are there instructions somewhere on how to replace these?
|
I have not seen any instructions. I would think that once you get the side cover of the console off that they should be easy to replace.

Cabin Filter Change Video
Hi All
Changed my pollen filter recently, used the following YOUTUBE video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKhVXslh6Is Takes about 30 mins for the first time :Eyecrazy: Good Luck |
Looks like a pain in the butt just to change a small filter, thanks for the walk through vid though.

Resurrection an old thread but what a pain in the butt for a simple air filter. I just bought a 2007 used from a dealership and I doubt this filter has been changed.
Thanks for the topic. |
I replaced mine at the dealer in Vancouver, BC area on July 23, 2013. Cost for parts + labor Cdn $74.99 + tax. The cost for the aftermarket (Fram) filter is $37 so I decided to get it done at the dealer. I have a 2006 Mazda 3 GT. One noticeable improvement was the increase in cabin air flow. My mileage is 142, 293 km and this is the first time I have replaced it.

Resurrecting this again because I just changed this filter on our 2005. I disconnected the battery, pulled off the glove box, removed the fuse panel, and opened the filter cover to realize most 04's and 05's didn't come with one. They instead have a little plastic tray that sits in it's place.
All well, put one it, fiddled with the fuse box for a while, and all is good. I took a bunch of pictures and wrote a how-to here: Mazda 3 cabin air filter replacement |
