I just hope that they change their mind about the US name. IMHO, the name "Mazda 6" sound dumb and uncreative. I think that "Atenza" sounds perfect. Maybe not for the conservative market image that Mazda already has for the 626, but come on. "Zoom-zoom in your new 6!" 6 what?
BTW, looks like the beginning of a cool site.

Thanks for your posts guys!
Are they calling the US version Mazda 6? Yeah that does sound gay, Atenza sounds much more better!!
Yeah I'll be posting some more pictures of the Atenza up... maybe not till next week, as I'll be in Toronto this weekend. I've got pictures of the 4 'n 5 door, both look sweet. I love the big rims they put on it... 18"!!!

wow...Richard...you are up on your stuff! When I bought my P5 I was also thinking forward to what I'd like to be driving in 2 - 3 years... a Mazda product....a 6 or 8 (with four doors - as I still have young kids) will be excellent choices to consider

Atenza is not solely the name of the show version of the M6.
It will be called that in certain countries including its home country, Japan.
Check out http://www.mazda.co.jp
Mazda 6 will be the name in North America. The decision to do this is largely dictated by marketing studies of the buying masses.

Regarding Mazda 6 (Atenza),
Many people think the 6 is underpowered at 165HP, but check this out:
Due to Mazda's proprietary valve-timing (it's about time), Mazda 6 will have 90% torque output from 1750 to 6000RPM! Talk about a fat powerband. That's like an electric motor! Any person with an engineering background knows that electric motors deliver max torque from the get-go. Mazda's gas engine comes close to that.
