Will MAZDA 3 be safer than Protege?

Look at this link;

http://www.highwaysafety.org/vehicle...mary_small.htm

even Suzuki Areo is much safer than our Pro!!!
I thought Protege waas one of the safest and... it's not.
Mazda3 must be a lot safer than that, living in Pinellas county ,Florida next to US HGWY 19 makes me worried with wife and 12months old son.

I agree. The Protege certainly isn't as crash worthy as I'd like either.

Example, check sig.

Well after a month in coma and a month and a half of rehabiltation. Also the police record stating that in Doctor Maroons professional opinion he won't be able to survive the night of June 26th, 2002.

I guess it did an ok job still though. When you think about how heavy the other vehicle was.

How's Mazda6 doing in the safety tests ?
We know that it will out handle and out price any competition.
How safe is it?
I think I did read somewhere that in Europe it did very well in crash tests, if it is really designed to rival 3series I hope it as safe as 3 series is.
I'M asking about the 6 because 3 may be very very similiar to it in terms od handling, safety and looks.

I saw something on crashes once and they said that for the Protege the worst place to get hit is in the front drivers side panel because the dash will cave on you and it is a high risk of injury to the left leg and ankle area. Either way I am glad that you are okay now!
Does a broken left pelvis count on that side? Yeah that was probably the worst place to get hit. But was either me or the girl sitting behind me. I couldn't avoid it altogether apparently. So apparently I sacrificed my door. She was fine after a day. So that's good.

Mazda6 has been doing very good in crash tests. Escpecially as it has front, side, and head curtain airbags.

Either way, my next car is definitely going to have side air bags/curtains.

The Pro is no deathtrap, but then again, it's not at the top of its class. You have to remember this thing debuted in Japan in 1998.

Interesting, as two of the highly recommended picks faired the worst in the parking lot damage (backing into a post) test (used to rate bumper durability)...the Suzuki Aerio and Mini were at the bottom of that heap.
The mini's frame bent from hitting a wall at 5mph.

I guess they sacrifice low speed safety for better energy absorption at high speeds. I'm sure there's a way to attain both.

well that was very heroic of you to take a hit like that. At least you are okay. My grandmother was hit on that exact side where you got hit. and she shattered her pelvis and broke ribs...it was horrible.
Man that's bad. I'd hate to see someone older, with a lower imune system, get hit like that.

I cant remember that 'heroic' act. So not like I'm tooting my horn here
That and the day before are absent.
