startin to look at motorcycles now, looking at gas prices and the miles i drive a day

now.. a sport bike is my first juvenile instinct (crotch rocket)
would it be the closest to best when earning about $175-$275 a week looking for crazy financing deals?

as for one by honda.. $39 to $140 a month (financed, no down payment discussed, or insurance quote) for sport bikes (depending on MSRP)
APR isn't a fixed rate, fluxuates between 5% and 18%

could i get some help finding/deciding on a certain bike? financing deal?
would it be a wise choice? or would i get screwed financially over time?

ima noob in this general area, but will listen

thanks 'all

I'm not a bike rider myself but i have friends who ride. A few questions to ask yourself in no particular order:

1. Have I ever been on a bike before?

2. Am I scared of laying the bike over?

3. Can I handle the sheer speed responsibly (namely in a crotchrocket)?

4. How far will I be driving it daily and could the comfort factor (ot lack thereof) be an issue?

There. That could be a start for you. One of my friends tops speeds of 150 on his bike and he ONLY has like a 600 by Kawasaki...

I am not a big fan of motorcycles personally, but if you are thinking of buying one as primary transportation, the first thing that comes to my mind is how freakin cold it's gonna be in Illinois in January.

I just got a motorcycle, pretty much the reason I haven't posted so much lately!....2006 Yamaha YZF-R6(Pics attatched)...

I freakin' love it! It's fun as hell and goes like you wouldn't imagine, but you have to be careful, the road is a scary place with all the idiots out there! And also, if you make a mistake on these things, well you know....

As for financing, I didn't finance the bike, paid cash and now I owe my mom another $2,000 because I didn't have it all at the time of purchase. But anyway, all I've heard about motorcycle finance is horror stories, so if you don't HAVE to, try NOT to finance! Also, if you are completely new to motorcycles, I HIGHLY reccommend looking into and MSF class! It will teach you A LOT!

Here's my baby!

first off...scotty you suck. i have wanted an r6 since like 2003. they are awesome...rode my buddies 03 and was hooked. havent had the funds to buy one yet myself. i love the 06 models.

now back on topic....first off kmaalfiisa, i know from your posts that you just finished high school. about the financing...id have to say you have a chance in hell of getting it yourself let alone with a co-signer. im not saying its impossible...but it is very very hard to get financed for a bike. ill put it to you this way...my brother will be 27 this year, makes 65K+ a year and they still wanted him to have a co-signer. ive have tried myself and have gotten turned down.

just my 2 cents though

p.s. scotty you need to get a fender eliminator kit really bad.

he won't get a bike financed by himself, PERIOD...it's not like getting a car financed...bikes are considered a LUXURY, not primary transportation....

You are more likely to get signature loan(HIGH interest rate)...And I still say no 18 yr old is going to get a signature loan for that amount either....

MyLowPro5, thanks! I've loved the R6 since '03 as well, and now they came out with this, I had to get it! And I also had the funds so it worked out! lol. And as a matter of fact, I put and F/E on it the day after that picture, I just haven't taken any new pics since...So far she's also got Greggs Flushies, Graves Sliders, and Clear Alternatives Integrated Tailight.

And yeah, as for financing, my mom was going to finance the bike to build credit, but she couldn't even get approved, so yeah, I say save up and buy used, unless you have the money and really desire, like I did, buy new!

Thanks!

Don't let the idea get away from you though, if you really want one keep trying! It's an amazing feeling and is like nothing else, you've just gotta be careful!
