Mazda safety dissed by Volvo

"Volvo is a subsidiary of Ford, and the Swedish carmaker's idiosyncratic insistence on practicality and safety seems to be spreading within the group.

Take the new Mondeo which is to be built on the Volvo S60 platform.

The decision was apparently taken after Volvo refused to accept plans to use a Mazda platform across the group since it did not live up to its safety standards."

From http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3528757.stm

Don't know if that is old news or not, it just stood out at the end of the article.

Volvos may be safer. But they look like crap. I've always hated volvos an saab. Saab has actually put out a car in which has styling I can actually dig.

the Saab 9-3turbo convert??....nice looking car. I just can't justify paying $40K for a 220hp car.

you've gotta drive the new S-70R before you make up your mind about volvo!!

Yeah, Thats the Saab I'm talkin about.

As far as the volvo your talkin about, I'm just talking about the looks. Performance wise I have driven a few volvos and they aint bad. I'll look up on that S-70R before I pass jugdment on it because I don't recall seeing how they look.

For the record I am excluding all the race car volvos. I have seen some bad *** looking ones. But whats the use if you can't buy one and drive it on the road. lol.
