Another boosted beauty...

Hey, Guys -
Lately, I have been getting weak in the knees over the upcoming all-new Chevrolet Cobalt SS. It's brand new from the ground up, and includes a lot of great features the Cavalier owner never dreamed of. Like a high quality interior with tight panel fits and expensive looking materials. A stiff chassis shared with the current European Opel Astra (which has received rave reviews from the European press). Plus, it comes with a supercharged 2.0L version of the Ecotec with 205hp, 18" alloys, 4 wheel disc brakes, electrically assisted power steering, and a lot of other great performance hardware. Unlike the sad sack Cavalier, this one has legs and is born to run. It will be available at Detroit area Chevy dealers in about a month, and I am going to go in and take one for a drive. Here she is,

hmm....anyone wanna tell me why an M62 powered 2.0L engine makes 205Bhp...(not whp) on 14psi??

seems like someone chose an inefficent blower for their car.

p.s. I would LOVE to to race anyone who buys this car for cash.....if they dont have cash tell them to bring their checkbooks.

Alright, boss - If I drive this car and like it, it could be worth a road trip to run you. Put that party together at your house next summer, and there will be a perfect opportunity!

haha, you going to buy a cavalier and race me>??? Alright! After the race let's compare how much we've spent on everything...cost of vehicle, mods, etc... make a little more interesting!

p.s. good luck spinning over those 18" rims....you'd NEED a supercharger to get that car rolling.

p.p.s. this is also a destroked 2.2L ecotec. I wonder why they would de-stroke it...it's to raise the redline but their redline only goes up 250rpms...hmm...i read the reviews of this car (not the chevy ones---biased) and it was NOT good. rubbery shifter, too short of a redline, jerky power delivery, low-rent interior, etc...

p.p.p.s. -- I'm not trying to rag on your possible new car but I'm telling you that you may be getting your hopes up for nothing.

I just did a quick search for online reviews and none that were listed were objective...they were all press-releases from Chevy.

If I remember correctly the review I read was in SCC and it said something along the lines of....too little too late. I'll go through my back issues and see what I come up with.

If you'd like to look for your own reviews make sure to verify that you're not reading a press release!

p.s. i'm not trying to rip on anyone....I just don't see GM keeping up with the SRT's, Mazdaspeeds, SVT's, etc....they haven't been a force in the compact car market.....EVER.

shoot , nobody pwns me! Every car I've had that I end up seriously modifying gets the AC tossed. This is no exception.

Sticker on the cobalt SS = $22K for 14.9s quartermile

My mp5 with every mod = $18K for mid-13's (based on similar cars)

That's just running in a straight line.... I think we all know that my P5 with the MSP suspension will be more than enough to outrun that cobalt in a turn..

Personally these little tet-a-tet's don't really prove anything since it comes down to a matter of opinion. To some people performance numbers are all that matters. To others they care if you have AC or not. In the end it's just whatever you prefer.

what do I prefer?? nothing with the word "chevy" on it.

It may not be performance thet ppl want...I just like it I find 21g's for a supercharged car to be a good buy and 14 for the N/a sounds great to me...Ive considered getting a job and saving up buying one...LIKE YOU SAID TO !!!

ghettopro, did you even read it when I posted this?? Also, I DID tell you to get a job and save up and either modify your car right or buy a nicer new car. If you consider a $14K chevy a worthwhile purhcase more power to you. I would just remind you that I paid $14.8+ttl for my fully loaded p5, leather, sunroof, 6-disk changer, polished wheels, sport exhaust, side airbags,etc... I'm fairly sure the cobalt won't have those same options for that price. I waited a little before the 3's came out and bought my p5 with HUGE rebates and incentives and got a lot more car for the money. I suggest you do the same.
