The chip will need to be flashed by us for the new program. More than likely we will require you to send us your ECU to get this done. I am also trying to see if I can make a plug in chip with a harness do the job. That way you do not need to send in your ECU to us. Pricing has not been finalized as we are still working on this project. Sleepercivic we have our own patened ECU running this car that controls boost, ignition and timing. The reason for the bigger injectors is that some people will want to boost more than 8-9 PSI on this kit. We are offering a cheaper low end kit without injectors for the 5-6 PSI kit. People that want more power will have a great foundation to build off as the larger injectors, good size T-28 turbo etc will give them some head room to power up if they so choose. We will be offering our ECU tuned initially only for the two kits mentioned, but we will possibly look at doing more aggressive maps for the power hungry guys. I should have pictures on Friday of the initial kit and also some power numbers very shortly. Thanks for the interest guys.

I'm confused??? Are you retuning the stock ecu, or are you including a piggyback/standalone ecu. When you say "our own patened ecu" it sounds like it is a new computer. If you are including a new computer, then I can understand how it controls boost, but if you are retuning the stock, how are you controlling boost with it?

Auto

I'm just now getting into tuning cars since I was just now able to afford a new car What are the issues involved with this kit and an automatic tranny? Would the tranny have to be modified at all for the turbo upgrade? Any information would be helpful.

We are still evaluating the possibilty of an automatic turbo kit. It should be possible with a few changes to the ECU and fabriction. As far as the ECU goes it is our piggyback ECU that will be controlling the boost, fuel, ignition and timing. However the N/A version will more than likely be a remapped stock ECU. Thanks for the replies guys.

Hey Brett, did you you guys figure out the WOT thing? You said that with the turbo ECU setup, it will be a piggyback type ECU. So what about when you are at WOT, will the stock ECU still over ride the piggyback ECU? Just wondering. And how much would the piggyback ECU sell for if I wanted to just pick that up (I have my custom turbo setup in the works) cause I was looking for some way to control my setup insted of going with a stand alone. If it is cheaper then a stand alone, I will pick that up first until I start shooting for bigger numbers (300+ hp )!

Smile

I have purchased from M2 for my rx7. I use their carbon fiber air box, stage III ecu, medium intercooler, and cat-back, and am very pleased with the quality and fit of all my parts from them. They might be a bit difficult to reach on the phone at times, but have been helpful.

I just picked up a 2002.5 4 dr, and would also be interested in the kit. Can't wait for the pic's!

Firas

ps: Hey Brett, are the polished intake pipes ready for the rx7?

Angry

i emailed m2 and this is what they said....

Thank you for your interest. We have no specifics to share at this time. The kit is still in development and we will release information as it gets nearer to completion. We apologize if somebody in our office was over-enthusiastic and gave the impression this product was closer to release.

This message is to inform this board that I no longer work for M2 Performance. As far as I know they will still be developing this kit for the Protege. I will notify you if I stay in this field of work of my whereabouts. Hopefully wherever I land we will be catering to the Protege market. Thank you everyone for the feedback over the past few months.
