turbo complimentary parts

i dont have enough cash for a turbo yet, but what parts can i get now in order to maximize my cars potential when i do get it.

for example, would a RB catback exhaust allow me to get more power out of the turbo. howabout the FZ-DE and Mazdaspeed cams.
does anybody reccomend any kits besides the FM.

also, what is the average installation price for a turbo.

my car is a 2003 P5 by the way.

if u have a P5, why not just buy a turbo kit, my friend with a P5 told me there are a couple of kits out for it, but they run the typical 4-5000 bucks price tag for the complete system....so u dont have to deal with sourcing parts....and it doesnt sound like u know what ur looking for, a bolt-on kit will be much easier on urself and more importantly, ur car

complimentary parts

Well, first off, there are a couple of really good kits out there.

Spoolin turbo has a great one. What I like about them is the customer service. They give you all the info you need and really go out of there way to make sure you know what your buying. Terry has always been great to me and i've thrown countless questions at him. Spoolin has stage turbo's. From 1,2, to 3. The base kit runs 2500$ or so, the stage 2 is a stage 1 with a better manifold which equates to more efficient spooling and a 5whp gain. The stage 3 is a stage 1 or 2 with an intercooler add on. It allows higher boost = power.

My second choice is Flyin Miata. They have a great team of turbo and mazda enthusiasts. A lot of members of this forum run Flyin Miata systems. I haven't really talked to them that much though since they haven't put a turbo in an auto, and i have an auto. There "equivilant" kit is similar to then stage 3.

Both Spoolin stage 3 and the Flyin Miata will run you 3500$. Both are intercooled. The spoolin puts out 197 or so with a 2.5" catback. The Flyin Miata does about 167 with a 2.25" catback. Call both companies. Both are great to deal with.

Consider install. It can run up to 1000$ but I have seen cost as low as 700 or so.

So...as to your question. Complimentary parts, get a good exhaust. Either a 2.5", if your sur your going turbo or I have a 2.25 Thermal and it will probably cost me about 15 HP because I will bottleneck at the first cat. Then, there are a lot of turbo accessories, some nessessary, some not. ask around. Personally, i've heard an EGT is the first thing. I could be wrong though, I have before.
