timing and nitrous

i was wondering if you would have to retard the timing for the 65 and 75 shot. I have a zex wet kit and it does say to retard the timing 2 degrees for a 65 shot and 4 degrees for a 75 shot. do i have to do this or would the pro be able to run without doing this, because i dont have the money to buy a piggyback at this time. or is there a way to retard the timing without a piggyback. i have an 02 protege with coil packs, not a distributor. thanks a lot for any answers in advance.

you should check out Jacobs Electronics Nitrous Mastermind controller. I don't think it's very pricey at all and Jacobs makes great products.

you should buy the jacobs. Sure the others are cheaper but they require you actually own their ignition system.

to get a final opinion you should call these companies and ask them what they say. I've used Jacobs and swear by them.

i only have run it once, and that is when i had intake and exhaust, and i ran a 16.9, not to much to brag about, but better then nothing i plan on running with nitrous this season, and i am hoping on hitting a mid to low fifteen with a 65 shot, but i honeslty have no idea what i will hit

16.9. Just wondering, is this with full interior and street tires?

16.9s WITH a 60hp shot? What kind of car are we talking about again? My bone stock P5 ran a 16.4s on street tires with full interior. I think I had the ms muffler at the time, maybe a SRI...

I'd figure ANYTHING with a 60hp shot on it would do a little better than a stock P5!

16.9 with intake and exhaust, and it was my first time at the track and my reaction times were horrible. with a 65 shot i hope to hit a mid to low 15. i should also have a better reaction time, so who nknows. full interior and bald tires that came with the car. i have a 2002 protege

oh ok, biggest thing you could to help out your times is the AWR front motor mount. This will allow for much better launches.

Before the mount I had to launch at 2600rpms....afterwards...4500rpms!

is your nitrous kit a dry or wet kit? How is it activated? WOT switch, button or what?

On my ZEX dry I would launch out of the hole without the juice at about half throttle and once it hooked up go WOT....once that hooked up I would spray. This usually got me the best times. in my SHO w/ ZEX I was hittin 7.90s in the 1/8th on street tires
