SOCH turbo manifold

I'm going to be fabricating my own manifold to bolt on a turbo for the 1.8L SOHC. I'm just wondering if anyone else would be interested in one if I made extras. If I do sell them, I recommend that you rebuild your engine, I don't want to blamed for a thrown rod because of engine abuse or poor engine condition.

To my knowledge, nothin but Cams and pulleys can be upgraded
on the SOHC engine. Ive looked for a new manafold and down pipe. Noone makes one for teh SOHC 1.8l engines.
Find any info please tell me. THanks

Read it again he said he is fabbing some up. I might be interested if my money situation picks up here soon.

I'm not sure what I'll sell them for, but it won't be very much. I have about 4 bikes and a car to paint, I probably won't start making them until a month from now.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to scratch the turbo idea for now and look into putting in a DOHC head?

No, for two reasons. 1. It'll lower my compression 2. I want to keep my SOHC. The DOHC needs some competition.

that is what I thought to ,, and with the dohc you can move more air through that bad boy ,,, hence more power

That sounds pretty cool! Who'd expect it from a SOHC

I can probably piece together every piece I need for the turbo kit for under $500cdn ($350ish US) using junkyard parts. Plus get some pipes made up for about another $300cdn and I'm set.

I already got a 100k (KM not mile) 93 engine + install for $600CDN so it should be pretty mint!

Is it true that the 93 engine and 94 had different HP? Due to compression increase in 94 or something like that?

The SOHC has a compression ratio of 8.9:1. If I were to put on the DOHC head, it will lower it to, I believe, 8.2:1. The DOHC may flow more, but I still want to keep my SOHC. I'll be doing headwork anyways. What's more embarassing than getting beat by a base model economy car?

SOHC (DX) is 8.9:1
DOHC (LX) is 9.0:1

I just looked it up in my Protege quick Reference that came with the car when it was sold New..

I was thinking of making a manifold like this, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33742 , but not having such crappy welds. Would a manifold design like this be okay, http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/custthdr.html ? It looks really easy to make but, I'm not sure on how well the exhaust would flow. Any comments or questions would help. Thanks.
