What's the safest nitrous shot I could get cuz I can't afford my car breaking down on me after I get the nitrous installed?? I hear that a 50 shot wet kit would do the trick but I don't know if it is safe for the engine cuz I want the engine to last a very long time cuz I need this car!!!! THANKS

if you want the engine to last a really long time, i would stay away from the bottle

If you can't afford the downtime or the money if the engine breaking down than I would honestly stay away from it.

I would honestly say, don't listen to people that haven't used it personally with sucess. Anybody that's never used it or didn't install it correctly will have bad things to say about nitrous.

Since I have NEVER had that issue myself, I'll sing the prasies of nitrous. I have use and installed nitrous kits for over 10 years without ONE problem. Never fried a spark plug, blown the exhaust off a car or any of those things you seem to hear about when the subject of nitrous talked about.

First of all, alot of those problems are based with carburated cars and not Multiport EFI engines. The most common problems with nitrous on EFI cars is too much nitrous used too soon or just too much for the engine to handle. Usually it's the latter...

I haven't seen a reaon yet for the Protege to be not able to use 50-75hp without progressive control and about 100-125hp with. I really see no reason if the Mazdaspeed car has 170hp rated at the flywheel and be safely increased about about 20-25% without any engine damage. From everybody I have talked too, the transmission is more of an issue that the engine itself is.

So go ahead pick up a nitrous kit. I would suggest a bottle heater and a pressure gauge as my most important options with a kit. If you follow the directions you will NOT have any problems with engine wear. I can't say the same for your clutch though...

i would say ...go ahead and buy NoS ... i've had honda civic w/ nos for 2 years and it never broke down on me i. i use my car to 40 miles a day and sometimes i use it when i go to reno or lake tahoe which is about 4 hours drive on 75 mph. and still u se my nos atleast 3-4 times a day. the only problem i've had on my nos is when it started leaking on the fuel side but it wasn't big a deal.
i my self is plannig on buying a nos on my proj 323 91 mazda i dont think i'd like to get the stock turbo charge engine for this car why? well US dont support parts for that engine and basically wear and tear on a turbo charge engine is faster than the nos. y cu'z u use nos only when u want to and turbo u use whe stuck in traffic, long driving, cruising etc...u got my point.? well good luck!

I think I would have to agree with Anthony on the Nitrous topic. I have never had any issues with it and I live by the power of the button. My little 1.8 gets a taste of it atleast once a day if not more. If installed correctly and set up correctly, you should have no problems what so ever with atleast 50 shot.

Just remember, the saying... "There is a TIME and a place for everything." Either use the Wide Open Throttle switch or never push the button before you reach upper RPMs.

I've used a 75 shot for a while, no problems, other than flooding related issues, i havent had any n2o related problems with my motor and i just hit 17,300 (been spraying since 5K, umm since 9K on the new motor)

oh and i just found out ive been spraying on stock plugs since 9K, i guess i keep getting lucky. I'm gonna go to the track again soon and see if the recommended plugs make a difference in the 1/4

if you want your motor to last long, dont drive your car hard and leave it stock, otherwise, spray a 75 and go to town.
