Good (affordable) Wideband O2 sensor

I did a search, and didn't find anything on a Wideband O2 sensor, so I thought I would pass along this info I got through some research with a company in Australia called Techedge. If you don't want to spend upwards of $700 for one, here is a good solution:

TechEdge TE-WB

They come in 2 types (with several versions:
The Pre-Assymbled Kits, and the Do-It_yourself kits. The DIY kits you have to assymble all the parts. This is right up my alley, and I will finally get to use some of my EET background. You will also need the display unit. I plan on doing some datalogging with my PDA. The prices are in Australian currency here:
http://www.techedge.com.au/o2next.htm
I found out approxamately how much it will cost shipped to me here in Texas:

Total price will be as follows from the website for a Do-it-Yourself kit:

qty price description total
1 $150 TE-WB (vers. 1.5) kit of parts $150.00
1 $70 TE-5301 LED Display kit (ver 1.1) $70.00
Total of above goods = $220.00 -- Total of insurance $9.00
Weight for posting = 550 grams -- Total of postage $19.00
Total of order in Australian dollars AU$248.00
Total of order in US dollars we'll charge for a PayPal transaction = US$153.76
Total of order in AU dollars including GST of $24.80 (if applic.) = AU$272.80

A great deal if you ask me!

BTW, here is my correspondence with one of the staff there:

By the way, info on hooking the TechEdge up to a PDA:

I want to use my PDA for data logging. Are there any additional
cables
I will need to hook up to my Palm m515? This is the Palm m515:
http://www.palm.com/products/palmm515/

I already have the Nology PDA Dyno
(http://www.nology.com/pdadyno.html),
and it has a cable that goes to serial on the other end.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, you must make sure you only connect pins 2 and 5 to the PDA, this may mean some mods, or a special cable.

Peter.

Pins 2 & 5 on the Serial side or the PDA side?

The WB unit doesn't use a "standard" RS232 connector
as some of the pins are connected to non-RS232 signals.

Only the WB-unit's DB9 pins 2 and 5 should be connected
to an RS232 device.

I need the oxygen sensor that you say seems to be in short supply.
How's the supply lately?

Pat, try http://www.oxygensensor.net/ not cheap, but available!!!!

One more thing,
How long will the order take to reach me?

About 7 days after we ship - we don't necessarily
ship the same day we get your order, so we say 10 to 14 days after you order.

Yes, that WB O2 seems to do a great job for a price you can't beat! I will get one when I get my SR20DET (far in the future). Here's a link to an install on an FD rx7.

good read.

Does that mean if you can get the wiring of the oxygen sensor into pins 2 and 5 of your serial cable, you can still connect to the OBDII computer? Or you can only do one or the other?
