Do not see how you could get 290 out of a 1.6 withought pushing over 20 PSI. Stock internals!!YAHH. Compresion is first of all way to low to make that high number much less stand the stress of the boost you need. I got a 1.5 with a VJ23 off a 89 323 with cams and new pistons and rings. Stock rockers and such. I run at 12 PSI which is still high and make 163 horse. Look at your #s. I brand new 1.6 miata with a turbo makes 178. 290. LOL

First of all the proof is there..the dyno chart AND a video of the pull is up...Second of all a VF24 WAY outflows your dinky VJ23..CFM's on VJ23 at 12PSI<VJ24 at 12 PSI..plus there was already a 1.6L looooong ago dyno'ing at 160 with 8lbs...3rd of all you show your ignorance when making a statement like compression is way too LOW to stand the stress of the boost....LOW COMPRESSION MAKES IT EASIER TO RUN HIGH BOOST !! plus 9.0 to 1 is hardly low compression, especially for a turbo engine !

your info is laughable....for starters. the new turbo miata is a 1.8L, not 1.6L.

secondly, the 1.6L in the protege is the same as the super-turbo-loving 1.6L miata engine. Juan's posted dyno's of his turbo kit making 290whp on pump gas.....be carefull who you call out. This man also has a 12.5s full interior P5 that waxes EVO's all day long.

well, not the same, but very similar. Especially in internals parts where it counts....if anything the ZM-DE makes a bit MORE power than the original Miata engines
